True, carnations have a reputation for being a little old-fashioned, but I think that’s part of the reason I like them. When I was little my Grandad would bring small bunches of carnations home as a surprise for my Grandma. He liked the red ones, and I remember he wore a carnation on his lapel during their 50th anniversary party.
It’s less than a week before Valentine’s Day and I got these flowers for $1.99 at the grocery store. Go out and get yourself some. Toss them in a vase (or in my case, an extra drinking glass) and be your own Valentine.
