- Was 2009 good for you? It was up and down. I did the Lent Challenge. I got a new job. My grandma died. My dad got laid up on bed rest for two months. I moved. My gallbladder blew up and I had surgery. I bought a house.
- What was your favorite moment of the year? I’m kind of in love with right now. I’m all settled in the house, I like my job, I have good friends, I’m healthy.
- What was your worst moment of the year? Moving away from my family when so much was going on at home. That four-day stint in the hospital for pancreatitis wasn’t so awesome either.
- Where were you when 2009 began? In bed, sound asleep.
- Who were you with? Just me and bed warmer.
- Where were you when 2009 ended? In bed, sound asleep.
- Did you keep your new years resolution of 2009? I resolved to lose weight (I did that, but gained some of it back), get a new job (did that!) and move back to Cincinnati (go me!).
- Do you have a new years resolution for 2010? Do I?! I’m posting them on Monday and believe me, they are awesome.
- Did you fall in love in 2009? I fell in love with my house.
- Did you make any new friends in 2009? Yep! I met new people when I started my new job. I also got to meet Lorrie, Sarah and Nikki — and a bunch of other ladies at BlogHer.
- What was your favorite month of 2009? December.
- Why this month? I was finally settled in the loft and life was generally good.
- Did you travel outside of the US in 2009? Sadly, no.
- How many different places did you travel to in 2009? Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, Indiana, Illinois… six places.
- Did you miss anybody in the past year? I miss my Grandma since she passed away. I miss seeing my parents every day.
- What was your favorite movie that you saw in 2009? I liked Where the Wild Things Are and Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist.
- What was your favorite song from 2009? I don’t know if I have one. Anything from Glee.
- How many concerts or plays did you see in 2009? Three concerts and several plays.
- Did you have a favorite concert in 2009? I loved the Over The Rhine show at the Taft.
- What was your favorite book in 2009? I re-read I Know This Much Is True by Wally Lamb and I was completely haunted by Into Thin Air by John Krakauer.
- Did you do anything you are ashamed of this year? I wish I hadn’t abandoned my workout routing when I moved back to Cincinnati. But I’m back on track now!
- What was the biggest lie you told in 2009? Anytime I said “I’m fine” from mid-May through August. My personal life was derailed and I was just trying to slog through.
- Did you treat somebody badly in 2009? I’m sure I could have been a better daughter, sister, friend, employee, person at various points during the year.
- Did somebody treat you badly in 2009? I wasn’t wild about that ER surgeon who wanted to slice and dice me on Labor Day.
- What was your proudest moment of 2009? Buying the loft was huge. So was completing my Lenten goal. I’m proud of the life I’ve created for myself this year. I’m exactly where I want to be.
- What was your most embarrassing moment of 2009? The numerous times my family put me on the spot by asking me to tell a joke or perform in front of other people without warning.
- If you could go back to any moment of 2009 and change something, what would it be? I would go back to the last time I saw my Grandma before she passed and hug her a little tighter.
- Where did you work in 2009? I started slightly miserable in an office in Columbus and ended pretty damn happy in a cubicle in Cincinnati.
- Favorite TV shows(s) of 2009? Glee, LOST, 30 Rock
- Favorite Band(s) of 2009? Journey and Over The Rhine (again)
- Favorite Food in 2009? Brownies, anything from Take the Cake, the salmon salad at Bravo, non-fat one-pump caramel lattes, green smoothies, sushi sushi sushi…
- Favorite Drink in 2009? This was the year I started drinking water consistently.
- Favorite Place in 2009? my house! (Local favorites: Take the Cake, Joseph Beth, Findlay Market)
- Favorite person(s) to be with in 2009? My parents, The Bride and Groom, Nathan and Krissie, the work posse.
- Favorite person(s) to talk to in 2009? My mom. She was a life saver this year, and she always makes me laugh.
- Favorite trip in 2009? The trip to Floyd for Lorrie’s wedding. It was a few weeks after my Grandma passed and it was exactly what I needed. A solid weekend of looking out the window, eating good food, laughing, dancing, trading stories over beer and sparklers… it rocked.
- Favorite stores in 2009? Findlay Market, Mica 12/v, Etsy, Old Navy, DSW
- Hardest thing you had to go through in 2009? Losing Grandma, finding and buying the house
- Most exciting moment(s) in 2009? Starting my new job, unpacking at the new house, Christmastime
- Funniest moment(s) in 2009? Too many to even count. It’s been a year of ups and downs but lots and lots of laughter in between.
