I had such an awesome visit with Nathan and Krissie over the weekend (my camera is still in a box somewhere so you’ll have to click over to Krissie’s blog to see photos. We had a blast and managed to cram a lot of Cincinnati into a 30-hour visit. We did some shopping at Mica 12/v, Park + Vine, then grabbed a drink at Coffee Emporium. Then we headed to Northside for some lunch at Take The Cake and then to West Chester for a two-hour jaunt through IKEA. We had some downtime at the loft before we met up with Nikki and Chris for dinner at Nicholson’s followed by a stroll to Fountain Square. On Sunday morning we were planning to have breakfast at Lavomatic but they were closed (curses!) so we went to Melt instead, which was fabulous as always. Then it was a trip through The Container Store and Crate & Barrel, stops at Yagoot, Anthropologie, and then back to the loft to say our good-byes. Somewhere in there I managed to inflate and deflate the “guest room.”
Wow. No wonder I’m worn out!
It had been awhile since I’d seen Krissie in person and I was blown away at how great she looks. Initially I was a worried I might feel a twinge of jealousy since she’s really hit her stride and I’ve been flailing around since Labor Day, but all of that insecurity was gone by the time I walked down to let her and Nathan into the building. I’m so proud of her for seizing control of her life and reaching the goals she set for herself a long time ago, and I know that if she can do it then so can I. And so can you! And it doesn’t mean living off of fat-free carb-free fake food. I had so much fun talking and laughing with my friends this weekend, but the biggest take away is feeling re-invigorated to make a plan of attack and start focusing on getting healthy again. It’s been a crazy few months, but I finally feel ready to dive in again.
Girl, I love ya! And it was so good to see you in your own space. I know what you can accomplish when you have the time and energy to focus.
Your words are so sweet. It is all about making a plan and setting goals that are based on behaviors that you can control. I can’t wait to see the places you will go.
I am so happy that we are friends. I miss you (and the possum!) already!
I saw you over on Krissie’s blog and LOVE your kitchen…one question for you- are the shelves in your kitchen that hold your dishes – from ikea? the floating shelves they have?? thanks
Aww thanks Carrie! My shelves are actually built-ins, so they’re not from IKEA. Same concept though! I’m not sure but I don’t think IKEA sells floating shelves that are as thick as mine (about 3 inches).
