Earlier this week my friend Nikki posted an entry of her guilty pleasures. Nothing scandalous, just some of those things that make you cringe after admitting them to friends. I’m all for sharing so-called dirty little secrets, so here’s a sampling of mine.
- Antiques Roadshow. I could watch those appraisers talk about collectibles for hours, and heaven help me if there’s a marathon on a Saturday afternoon. (But I kind of hate antique-ing. Figure that one out.)
- Chick Lit. I was an English Lit major, I work in publishing… I get it; I should know better. Eff that. Sometimes you just want to spend a weekend reading some Confessions of a Shop-a-holic.
- Henri Bendel Lemon Verbena candles. If for some odd reason you’ve ever wondered what my house smells like, smell one of these candles. I’m embarrassed to admit how many I’ve bought in the course of my life thus far (eleven, but some of those were gifts!). They’re expensive, they never last as long as I want them to, and they smell divine.
- New socks. Perfect, clean, cushy white socks. The kind that are tall enough to cover your ankle but short enough that they don’t have to be folded down. I must have two dozen pairs, which wouldn’t be notable if it weren’t for the fact I wear heels or dress shoes almost every single day. I can’t even claim to sleep in the socks because I don’t even do that very often. There’s just something about a package of spongey white socks that calls to me from across the supermarket.
Okay, your turn. What are some of your guilty pleasures?
My guilty pleasures are:
1. Mindless tv shows- The office, The Simpsons, Seinfeld, Curb your Euthusaium, etc
2. Out of the dryer sweatpants and sweatshirt
3. Vegging out on the couch on a Saturday night with pizza and beer
4. Hours surfing on the ‘net for nothing
The Hills! I know it’s an awful mindless, scripted “reality” show, but for some reason I can’t stop watching it. That, and when I make cupcakes, I always put the extra icing in the fridge so I can eat it with a spoon the next night!
Miley Cyrus’ “Party in the USA.” I know. I’m 32. I should NOT like this song.
But I can’t help it.
just a few…
1. Watching the Kardashian sisters. They are rediculous, but they truly love eachother. I actually had a dream last week that I went clubbing with them. Ha!!
2. Listening to reeeally old songs that remind me of ex-boyfriends. Sometimes you just want to re-live those OHMYGOSHILOVEHIMSOMUCH days.
3. Talking to my dogs like they are my children. I know some people are totally annoyed by this, but at this point I want kids so bad that they have to make due for now.
Hi Best Friend! I love that you’re commenting on the blog now!
And I wish I could get on board with the Kardashian sisters, but I just can’t. I’m sure they’re nice deep down but I can’t get over the fact that they’re famous for absolutely not reason. Same thing for Nicole Ritchie, Paris Hilton…
I think I can top Miley Cyrus with that Justin Bieber song “One Time.” So ridiculous but I can’t help but sing it whenever I hear it on the radio. I just wanna be his number one girl.
Does the fact I listened to Vol. 1 of “Glee” this morning at work beat this? I’m not sure.
Uggghhh… I can’t believe I am exposing this but:
I absolutely adore the Love Comes series by Janette Oke they are forever showing on Hallmark.
That Fireflies song by Owl City ( gets annoyingly stuck in my head all the time.)
And last but not least the “reality” series Rehab Party at the Hard Rock Hotel.
*head cast down she schlumps away*
Awww Olivia! I used to watch that Love Comes Softly series with my Grandma before she passed away! It was one of her favorites and I forgot all about it until you mentioned it, so see? Some good came out of your embarrassing revelation.
Twilight would have to be a big guilty pleasure of mine. The books are incredibly silly, but alas I’ll be there to see New Moon at midnight this week. Not dressed as Alice…points for me!
I also watch movies or read books over and over because they are comforting to me. I love Bridget Jones and tend to read both books every other year and watch the movie around Christmas time.
Annd I love holiday movies like the family stone or love actually.
Wow! I feel like an open book. I’m not embarassed by much that I do. I do have some kind of crazy obsession with The Gambler by Kenny Rogers, but I shared that one with the world a few months ago. I have also passed it on to my 3 year old. (Oops!) The only one that I think of that my friends don’t know is kool aide mixed with rum (not as bad as it sounds).
I too am a fan of the Hills, and I own all the seasons of The OC on DVD. Oh, and the complete series of My So Called Life. Clearly, I am obsessed with overdramatic high schoolers for some reason.
