Raindrops On Roses? Slightly Overrated.

Forget Oprah*; these are a few of my favorite things lately…

  • The ice cold, filtered water machine at my office.  I love having super cold water without having ice cubes clunking against my face each time I take a sip.
  • Plums.  I picked up a bag at the grocery store and I’ve been eating them in my lunch all week. Yum.
  • The End of Overeating by David Kessler, M.D.  I’m not quite halfway through but it’s pretty amazing so far.  I always knew that the food industry messed with food to make it seem more appealing but I had no idea it goes as far as it does.  I’ll never think about fat, sugar and salt the same way again.
  • The soundtrack to Amelie, which has always been one of my favorite movies. Something about the music makes me want to flounce around town in a sundress with a baguette in one arm and tiny white fluffy dog in the other.
  • My realtor, who said during a recent tour of a downtown loft “Wow, it’s not nearly as scary as I thought it would be! It’s actually kind of cute!”

*Just kidding, O — ain’t got nuthin’ but love for you girl!

  1. I love plums too, and we just saw some at the Farmer’s Market. But instead, we got some great peaches that you need to eat while holding a napkin under your chin or else you will get totally soaked!,

I like your favorite things list!

  2. I just watched a piece on CNN this morning about David Kessler’s book and his findings about fat, sugar and salt. It was fascinating (the actual information, not the silly way it was produced)! Between that and your rec here, I just may have to pick up a copy.

  3. I’m left wondering what you did to that realtor?

    Amelie was a fabulous movie!

  4. I have a funny realtor quote too… we were looking at this huge foreclosed house that was totally within our budget. It was really MORE space than we needed, but the price was SO right… then we ask if there’s a basement… the realtor goes “um… yes, there’s a basement. But it’s very Jeffrey Dahmer-like, and I’m so not going down there”. HAHAHA Needless to say, we did not get the house with the serial killer-like basement.

I completely agree! This makes me want to see it again, like, right now.

  6. The Amelie soundtrack is a must listen while cleaning. The movie is delicious and I may just have to watch it again. :)

  7. I, too, ADORE Amelie.
Havent heard the soundtrack in eons tho.
thanks for the reminder of how soooothing it is.

  8. I’ve never had a plum.

    I’m reading that book too.

Amelie is one of my fav movies of all time and I LOVE the soundtrack.

Your realtor sounds slightly off her game, lol.

Don’t need Oprah when I’ve got you! I love your favorite things. :)

  9. Amelie just makes me so so so so happy! Great list!
